The PGA Tour is kicking off its 2008 season on Maui at the world famous plantation course of Kapalua. The Mercedes Championship started yesterday with a pro-am with the tournament starting today and running through Sunday. Participants are limited to winners from 2007 tour events. Last year’s champ Vijay Singh headlines this years fields. The plantation course and the trade winds will pose some challenges for the pros. Heavier rain earlier in the week has left the rough a little long and the trades will be gustier than usual for this time of year with gusts up to 25 mph in the forecast for the first couple of days. The Mercedes Championship is a great show case for Maui’s world class golf and spectacular scenery. We will provide updates on the event on THE Maui Real Estate Blog as it progresses.
