As always, there is plenty to do during the weekend on Maui. A couple of sporting events highlight the calendar this weekend. The OluKai Ho’olaulea is a celebration of ocean sports that will be held at Kanaha Beach Park on Saturday and Sunday. The event will feature an OC-1 Canoe Race from Maliko Gulch to Kanaha, a stand up paddle race from Maliko to Kanaha, Canoe Surfing, Canoe Rides, Hawaiian Games, luau, hula and a Saturday musical performance from Paula Fuga. Check out the OluKai Website for additional information.
I received an interesting press release on another sporting event happening this weekend. First off, I am flattered that people are sending me press releases these days. Second, this sounds like a pretty fun event. The Maui Roller Girls (MRG) are presenting Maui Mayhem on Sunday at the Central Boy and Girls Club Basketball Courts across from War Memorial in Kahului. The MRG will be hosting the Pacific Roller Derby Girls in the first flat track roller derby event hosted on Maui. This should be a pretty entertaining event and best of all it is free! The fun starts at 2:00 PM.
