Back on the Water

A broken hand has kept me out of the water for much of the summer. Last week, my hand felt capable of withstanding surfing and paddle surfing. Coincidentally, we saw a small swell appear on the North Shore of Maui . The North Shore is generally placid during the summer months. Sometime around September, these shores start to show signs of life as storms start to march along the Gulf of Alaska. Fortuitously, we had a bit of a tease of winter when shoulder to waist high waves appeared on the coast. I can’t boast of a particularly glorious return to the water. If anything, the ocean continued to give me a lesson in humility as a couple of months off the water left my timing off and my conditioning poor. That being said, it was great to be playing in the beautiful waters of the Pacific.
