Life is returning to normal pretty quickly on Maui. The island was fortunate in that damage was limited and most importantly there were no injuries. The Southeast portion of the island bore the brunt of the quake with communities like Kipahulu and Kaupo experiencing a number of land slides. The back side of the road to Hana is being cleared of debris. Talking to friends and colleagues, I heard of reports of a few broken dishes and picture frames from points throughout the island. Friends who were out for an early morning surf were among the few that did not feel the quake. Thanks to those that have sent well wishes. They were most appreciated. Our thoughts go out to those on the Big Island who suffered more extensive damage from the quake. For more pictures and stories, check out the coverage in the Maui News and on Channel 4 News.
