Today is the last day of the Maui Film Festival at Wailea and there are lots of good films and documentaries on tap for the day. The movies start early and run late. Here are some highlights.
- If you want to get out of the sun, you can head to the MACC for a number of documentaries and feature films. The first movie starts at 1:00 in the McCoy theater, with other shows at 3:00, 6:00 and 8:00. Tickets are $10 per film.
- The Celestial Cinema kicks off a little early tonight with a musical performance by Makana. Makana plays between 7:00 and 8:00. He is followed by the documentary Down the Barrel. This surf movie features some of the best wave riders on the planet including Kelly Slater. The last film of the night and the festival for that matter is Encounters at the End of the World. The movie is a film by Werner Herzog. The only film maker to make movies on every continent. This movie ventures to Antarctica to take a look at the scientific community that lives on our planet’s least hospitable continent. Makana is a free concert for all ticket holders to the Celestial Cinema double feature. Double feature tickets are $20 with tickets to the Herzog film only $10.
