The first round of the Mercedes Pro Championship started today over at the Plantation Course in Kapalua. This is the first event of the PGA Tour season. It is an exclusive event open only to winner’s of 2008 PGA tour events. Tournament favorites would have to include Vijay Singh, Ernie Els and last year’s winner Daniel Chopra. The Mercedes Championship is a draw for visitors and island residents alike. The course is a true challenge and the backdrop is pretty stunning with Honolua Bay in the background and the island of Molokai just across the channel.
