Tonight should be a great evening to be taking in one of the events at the Maui Film Festival at Wailea. Here are a few of tonight’s festival highlights:

  • Felicity Huffman will be honored tonight with the Maui Film Festival Nova Award. An award ceremony and conversation with Huffman will be followed by the Hawaii premiere of her film Phoebe in Wonderland. This event will be held at the Maui Skydome of the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort and Spa. A reception with cocktails and wine will start at 7:30 with the tribute and film scheduled for 8:00
  • The Celestial Cinema has a couple of good films slated for this evening. The first movie is the visually stunning and critically acclaimed new release The Fall. The second film of the night is another one that has been well received by the critics. The Visitor chronicles a listless economics professor in New York City. He is awakened from his stupor by his encounters with an illegal immigrant couple. The Celestial Cinema is located at the golf center near the Gold and Emerald golf courses. Tickets to both films are $20. Tickets to just the Visitor are $10. I would recommend that festival goers arrive at 7:00 or earlier to get good seating for tonight’s celestial cinema as weekend movies are always popular.
  • For those that want to indulge themselves, they may want to make their way to the Four Seasons Wailea. The chefs of this famed resort will be whipping up all kinds of tasty treats at the Taste of Chocolate. This event starts at 10:00 and runs to midnight. Tickets are $180 at the door and they also include tickets to a double feature at the Celestial Cinema, a screening at the Sky Dome and the Castle Theater

These are just some of the great events scheduled this evening. Check out the Maui Film Festival schedule online for a complete list of events. It sounds like a night of visual and culinary treats in Wailea. I hope everyone has a chance to attend.
