Two Maui High School Football teams will be playing today in the state semifinals. At 5:00 PM, the Baldwin Bears will be taking the field against defending state champion Kahuku at Aloha Stadium on Oahu. Baldwin brings a formidable passing attack against one of the state’s true football powerhouses. Locally, King Kekaulike will be making its first state playoff appearance when they face Iolani at War Memorial in Wailuku at 7:30. Thus far, a Maui team has been unable to the state finals. With two opportunities to win today, this may be the best chance for a Valley Isle team to make it to the state championship. Billy and I are looking forward to cheering on King K tonight as the kids from the North Shore and Upcountry take the big stage.
