Haiku is a beautiful community situated on the North Shore of Maui. The area is on the windward side of the island meaning that trade winds blow through much of the year keeping the weather cooler than other coastal areas of the island and more lush due to night time and morning trade showers. Haiku is a one time agricultural hub of Maui. While Pineapple and sugar cane continue to be grown today, the rural area has become an increasingly popular residential area. Much of the area is zoned agricultural meaning that many of the lot sizes are two acres or more. Old converted pineapple canneries serve as the commercial hubs of the community. Around the canneries are a number of smaller lot homes that at one time were residences of field hands.
