We have had a few clients and friends on the mainland asking about Hurricane Flossie today. I just wanted to write a short blog entry letting everyone know that we are ok and don’t anticipate any problems. As it stands right now, the hurricane is set to pass south of the Big Island later today. The current storm track will keep the bulk of the wind and rain passing well offshore. We should see some effects though as the storm heightens our trade winds and moisture associated with the storm gets in our trade wind flow. This will bring potentially wet conditions to windward and mountain areas of the island. This moisture will be welcomed after a drier than usual 2007. Eastern shorelines of Maui should expect rising surf with a high surf advisory in effect due to building trade winds. Hurricanes are known for being unpredictable so we will continue to watch the storm closely. We will update the blog if the storm were to change paths and head closer to Maui.
