The luxury real estate market remains resilient on Maui. The North Shore and Upcountry Areas have been particularly strong with two high sales prices set last week. Our listing at Maunaolu Plantation between Makawao and Paia closed at $2,350,000. This beautiful property included a three bedroom/3.5 bath home, pool, spa and 2 bedroom/2 bath cottage on over 2 ocean view acres. This is the highest sales price in the subdivision to date. While this is nothing to sneeze at, the North Shore saw its highest sales price ever when an oceanfront home in Paia closed for $6,000,000. This spectacular contemporary home had 5 bedrooms and 5.5 baths in a breathtaking setting.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the luxury market over the next couple of months. Last year, we saw a number of luxury homes go into escrow over the last week of the year. This resulted in at least a half dozen sales in excess of $6,000,000 including the highest sales price to date on Maui at $19,200,000 for an oceanfront estate in Makena.
