High Surf Warning Videos

Topics

We had our first High Surf Warning of the winter surf season over the last couple of days. The threshold for High Surf Warnings varies based on shoreline. Along our North Facing shores, they raise the warning when wave faces in excess of 25 feet are possible. That’s not to say that all beaches are going to have 25 foot waves, but select surf breaks will generate wave heights equal to or greater than that 25 foot barrier.

Even if the waves are too big to ride for most mortals, they make for quite the spectacle. Here is a video I shot on the first day of the swell on Tuesday.
