I double posted my last entry so rather than deleting the second post, I thought I would over write the previous post and add a little color to the blog. Words are nice, but the beauty of Maui is better seen than described. Here is a photo Billy took of the east end of Ho’okipa Beach Park taken towards the end of summer. There are a few surfers out enjoying the small summer waves. As we move into winter months, the placid ocean in this picture transforms as big swells arrive on Maui’s shores from storms in the Northern Pacific.
Ho’okipa’s combination of wind and waves have made this one of the premier windsurfing breaks in the world. If you don’t enjoy riding the waves, it is pretty fun to take in the scenery and watch those that are playing in nature’s elements.
