The Billabong XXL awards were announced last night. Once again a wave at Jaws on Maui’s North Shore was deemed to be the largest ridden in the world for the 2004/2005 surf season. Dan Moore of Oahu and his tow partner Mark Anderson of Maui won a $68,000.00 prize for their winning wave. His prize was one thousand dollars per foot for the wave. Although, it was deemed to be smaller than last year’s winning wave by two feet, Moore felt the full fury of the wave when he had to straighten out. The ensuing wipeout was one of the worst of his life. For more information on this year’s contest and the rest of the XXL winners check out the Billabong XXL website.
