Last week, the Maui County Planning commision provided unanimous approval for a special management area permit for new commercial space at the Kapalua Resort. The new commercial space will be a replacement for the current Kapalua Shops. The shops and the Kapalua Bay Hotel are to be destroyed as part of an overall redevelopment of the Kapalua area that will include the replacement of the hotel with The Residences at Kapalua.
