Big wave events are somewhat uncommon for March. While, we can have big swells it is relatively uncommon to have sustained giant swells. It seems to happen every ten years or so. After having very large advisory level surf today, it looks like we will have even bigger surf starting tomorrow afternoon extending through Tuesday. The current Hawaii surf forecast is calling for High Surf Warnings on Oahu and Kauai with High Surf advisories for Maui. It will be interesting to see if the warning extends to Maui. As it stands today, a lot of breaks were unridable with most surfing action occuring on the outer reefs with the tow teams. There is a pretty good chance that Jaws will at least be breaking in the small category over the next couple of days.
