The Maui Film Festival is a local treasure that brings quality cinema to our island. They offer two big events in the First Light Film Festival in December and the Maui Film Festival at Wailea in June. They are also known for bringing an abundance of high quality independent films, foreign films and documentaries via the weekly Candle Light Cafe and Cinema. The Film Festival took a bit of a respite from weekly movies after the Wailea Film Festival, but they are back again this week on a new day. Tonight, the Candlelight Cafe and Cinema features the Academy Award winning foreign Film Departures. There are two showings at the Castle Theater of the Maui Arts and Cultural Center at 5:00 and 7:30.
