Maui Halloween Festivities 2008

Topics

Maui is pretty renowned for its Halloween Festivities. Traditionally, the focal point for Halloween activities is Front Street in Lahaina. It appears that this year, Lahaina will be a little less rowdy than usual and we will see a more geographically diverse Halloween Celebration.

The town of Paia is offering an option to North Shore residents who don’t want to make the trek over to Lahaina. They are offering both kid friendly and adult oriented festivities. For the kids, merchants will be open for trick or treating between the hours of 4:00-7:00 PM. For adults, the Flatbread Company will be hosting a costume party starting at 8:00. Winners of the best prize awards will win Flatbread gift certificates. The Moana Cafe will be hosting an Open Mind, Open Mic night. Last but not least, Charley’s will be rocking with live music from Gomega.

I am sure that there will still be a pretty good crowd out in Lahaina. They will be having their annual Keiki parade at 4:30. There are a few things worth noting though. Front Street will only be closed to vehicle traffic from 3:00 to roughly 6:00 for the parade. It will be reopened sometime around 6:00. This is a departure from the usual events that have led previous Lahaina Celebrations to be dubbed the Mardi Gras of the Pacific.

These are just a couple of events that I know of happening on the island. If you have a business offering a Halloween celebration this year, contact me and I would be happy to add your event to this blog post. I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween!
