Mayor Signs off on New Bed and Breakfast Bill

As reported in late December, the Maui County Council passed a new Bed and Breakfast ordinance. The new ordinance went in to effect last week when Mayor Charmaine Tavares signed off on the bill. The bill expands the definition of bed and breakfasts and allows for a more streamlined permitting process. There have been a number of home owners who have been trying to get permits for bed and breakfasts for some time. It will be interesting to see how quickly the planning department will process new permit applications. If we get any feedback on the permit process, we will post updates on THE Maui Real Estate Blog.
