Every once in a while, I will chime in with a few things going on in and around Paia the town where the Jim Sanders Office is located on the North Shore. Our friends Daniel and Caramiya who own Indigo have recently expanded their store. They have added significant more space and just in the nick of time. They just received a new container with a lot of furniture, brass, clothing, textiles and other materials from India. This adds to their impressive inventory of rugs, photography and jewelry for sale. It is a pretty amazing shop that grows by the day as they continue to unload the container and stock the shelves.
A few weeks back I posted on the Paia Youth and Cultural Center’s new radio station KOPO 89.5. To be honest, I don’t listen to the radio a lot. That being said, I have been tuning into KOPO radio quite a bit over the last week. The kids do a great job with the programing and their diverse mix of music. The youth and cultural center continues to amaze me with the great activities that they provide for the kids of the North Shore. The new Paia mini bypass has been in operation for about a month’s time. Thus far, it appears to be helping with some of the traffic backups we experience from time to time. It will be interesting to see how it works as surf season gets closer and there are more people out and about on the North Shore.
On that note, surf season is not too far away. Typically we start to see North and Northwest swells as early as September in Maui. I know the surfing community is eagerly anticipating the arrival of waves.
