There was an article in Wednesday’s Maui News on the Paia Town Center Commercial development. This project encompasses a couple of block on the South East corner of the intersection of Hana Highway and Baldwin Avenue. Two office buildings are to be added to the town center. One would be situated in the area between Milagros restaurant and Alice in Hulaland. The other would be located near the back of the Charley’s parking lot extending to the location of a home on Luna Rd. A second aspect of the redevelopment would be the paving of the town center’s current parking as well as the installation of additional lighting and security. At Tuesday’s county council meeting, the planning commission voted that they were in favor of zoning changes and community plan amendments necessary to move the project forward. While this is an important step forward, the developers still have a number of steps that they will need to take to move forward with the project.
