We just thought we would pass along some news about the Paia Youth and Cultural Center (PYCC), our favorite local not for profit. The Youth Center’s radio station has moved to a new frequency. The youth operated station has migrated from 89.5 to 88.9 on your FM dials. This 100 watt station can be heard along parts of Maui’s North Shore, parts of Central Maui, much of the Upcountry and even a few areas of South Maui. It can also be heard online. Even with it’s limited broadcast range, it still manages to get a lot of attention. It was recently cited as one of the forty best little radio stations in the U.S.
If you want to support the PYCC, we encourage you to attend their annual fundraiser on Saturday. The board of directors of the Youth Center is hosting “Casino Royale: Joker’s Wild” from 6:00-10:00 PM at the Maui Country Club. The event will offer an elegant evening of gaming, fine foods and spirits, rollicking entertainment, live auction, prizes, and a few jokers. Scheduled entertainment includes Jazz vocalist Kelly Covington backed by Paul Marchetti, Shiro Mori and Lenny Castellanos and the Kit Kat Club Cabaret. Some of the Live Auction Items include a Molokai full day sailing excursion for 8 people, dinner for 8 at Mama’s Fish House, an Electric Guitar Signed by the Doobie Brothers and a whole lot more. Tickets are $150 in advance and $160 at the door.
