Plantation Course Overhaul

Topics

While Kapalua is planning a major redevelopment of its shops and the Kapalua Bay Hotel over the next few years, one of Kapalua’s most famous landmarks is currently in the midst of a major overhaul. The Planation Course, home to the PGA’s Mercedes Championship, is undergoing a million dollar upgrade. All of the greens are being planted with new grass, bunkers have been added, cart paths widened, tee boxes have been increased in size, trees trimmed and one of the par threes was lengthened. The goal of the makeover is to improve the course both for the professionals who play one week a year and visitors who come to the course the remaining 51 weeks a year. Closed since March 31st, the course is on schedule to reopen August 1, 2005. All of the improvements are bound to make one of the best courses in the country even better. For more informnation on the project, check out yesterday’s article in the Maui News.
