Room to Roam in Nahiku

Our new Hana agent, Sonny Sudak listed a fantastic property in Nahiku on Maui’s East Side. This 57 acre property includes a small cottage, big ocean views, plenty of privacy and a whole lot more.

This Nahiku cottage is situated on a big 57 Acre lot.

The seller cleared roughly two to two and a half acres around the cottage. Recent clearing efforts helped to really open up the ocean views. The remaining acreage is largely tropical jungle with three intermittent streams crossing through the property. The closest stream is audible from the cottage after heavy rains.

The home’s post and pier construction provides a covered work space underneath the lanai.

Two Fantastic Olinda Properties

The Maui Real Estate Team has two contiguous properties in the Olinda area of Maui’s Upcountry listed for sale. The 6.7 acre parcel and the 30.45 acre parcel can be purchased separately or together to form a potential family compound.

The 6.7 acre property includes a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, modern Hawaiian Plantation Style home. Highlights of the home include vaulted ceilings, an expansive lanai, jacuzzi tubs in both bathrooms, a photovoltaic system and big ocean and West Maui Mountain Views. The property also includes a hot tub, cold plunge, a sauna, a big orchard and what we believe to be Maui’s longest slip and slide.

The adjoining 30.45 acre parcel has an older two bedroom, two bath home with a four car, car port and a separate office area. There is a small greenhouse, a water catchment building with two tanks and an auxiliary water catchment reservoir. This property has been planted extensively with native trees funded in part by a conservation grant. The beautiful Koa and Ohia trees are really flourishing in the Upcountry climate.

The two parcels offer a tremendous sense of seclusion and privacy. That said, they are still just minutes from downtown Makawao, close to great schools and just 20 minutes from Baldwin and Ho’okipa Beach Parks on Maui’s North Shore.

The six acre parcel with a beautiful modern plantation home is being offered for sale for $1,500,000. The 30 acre parcel is being offered for $2,000,000.  Buy one or buy both. The two parcels together have the potential to be converted into one of the more spectacular estate properties in Maui’s Upcountry.

The Brando Estate in Haiku

Space. Room to Roam. Seclusion. Privacy. They all seems to be in short supply on our shrinking planet. Marlon Brando once said, “Privacy is not something that I’m merely entitled to, it’s an absolute prerequisite.” Perhaps, that is why Mr. Brando was the one time owner of the property that we just listed in the Huelo area of Haiku on Maui’s North Shore. This 26.7 acre parcel is situated along a quiet country road on the ocean side of Hana Highway. Many of the neighboring properties also have substantial acreage which only adds to the sense of privacy. The land itself is a mix of meadows, tropical forest dotted with stately common mango trees and swaying coconut palms.

There is a three bedroom/two bath home on the property. The pole house style home also draws from the influence of the Hawaiian Plantation Style with big lanai spaces that invite you outside to enjoy the natural splendor. Flooring in the house is a mixture of bamboo, tile and sisal. While the first floor has great views, the vistas from the second story loft and decks are truly extraordinary. Looking Mauka (towards the mountains), you can see the Koolau gap on Haleakala and the vast Koolau Forest Reserves. This extensive rain forest area is a sea of green. Looking Makai (towards the ocean), the ocean view is so expansive that you can literally see the curvature of the earth.

This is a great place to unplug, both literally and figuratively. The home is off the grid with power by photovoltaic system with generator back up and water via catchment.

While the home offers both seclusion and privacy, you aren’t too far away from the island’s conveniences and amenities. You are within 15 minutes of Haiku town’s groceries and restaurants. The galleries, shops, and restaurants of Paia and Makawao are within 20 minutes. The airport in Kahului is approximately a half hour’s drive.

The Brando Estate is offered by The Maui Real Estate Team for $2,000,000. Check out the Brando Estate listing page for more photos and details. Qualified buyers may Contact The Maui Real Estate Team to arrange a tour of this private getaway on Maui’s North Shore.

Maui Water Lily

Broker Billy was recently showing our vacant land listing off Hanauana Road in way eastern Haiku. This beautiful 24 acre property with five lots is an ideal locale for an eco estate property or a small green subdivision. This is truly stunning land that offers both big vistas and smaller elements of natural beauty. The Artesian springs on the property are both a water source and the source for small pools where water lilies grow. Billy snapped this image of a water lily in one of the spring fed pools on his iPhone.
