Pulelehua, Maui Land and Pineapple’s proposed new subdivision planned for West Maui, went through another round of public testimony and debate last night. Over 200 people were in attendance at the Lahaina Civic Center to attend the hearing on the proposed 882 dwelling town . Opposition for the project and advocates for the project were both well represented. Proponents of the development were focused on the large number of affordable units associated with the development. Most of the opposition was focused on infrastructure concerns. Traffic, schools and water both saw expert testimony for and against the project. The debate is likely to continue over the next few months. We will continue to keep you updated on the review process for Pulelehua. For additional information on last night’s meeting, check out todays’ article in the Maui News.
