Topics

If you are looking for things to do this weekend, there are a couple of options worth checking out.

If you are over in Lahaina, this weekend is the start of the International Festival of Canoes. The event is a celebration of Polynesian culture including representatives from islands from throughout the Pacific. This two week long event will have a variety of cultural activities. At the forefront is the creation of Pacific voyaging canoe. The event kicks off on Saturday at noon in Kamehamehiki Park on Front Street.

The carving of canoes will start on Sunday at 9:00 A.M. in Kamehameiki Park. Carving will run from 9:00-5:00 through Friday. For a complete schedule of events and more information, check out the International Festival of Canoes Website.

If you are in the Upcountry on Saturday, stop by Seabury Hall for their annual crafts fair. The Fair features over 100 of Hawaii’s finest artists and crafters – woodworkers, traditional Hawaiian artists, jewelers, ceramists and weavers. There is also food, island entertainment, fresh produce, cut flowers, children’s games, our huge rummage sale, and a special silent auction filled with an impressive list of prizes. Check out the Seabury Hall Website for additional information.
