Upcountry Maui Development will Cater to Baby Boomers

Topics

The Pacific Business News has an article about a new 40 home subdivision in Maui’s Upcountry catered to baby boomers. The Cottages at Kulamalu will have a mix of forty single family homes and duplexes . Sales will only be open to those 55 and older for the first 90 days that the development is marketed. The cottages are being built by homebuilder D.R. Horton’s Schuler division. This is part of the broader mixed use community of Kulamalu being developed by Everett Dowling. Kulamalu will include retail, restaurants and more. It is also the location of Maui’s Kamehameha Schools campus and The Univeristy of Hawaii Astronomy Center. It is designed to be a walking community that allows residents to leave their cars in the garage. We will provide additional information on sales prices as they become available.

Note: After initial attempts to market to Baby Boomers failed to gain traction during the 2008 housing downturn, sales for the Cottages at Kulamalu opened up to the general public.
