We will likely wake to our largest swell of the season tomorrow with the National Weather Service issuing a high surf advisory for Maui’s North and West Shores. Wave faces of between 18-22 feet are expected at selected North Shore breaks per this afternoon’s surf forecast. These type of wave heights are just around the bottom end of where Maui’s famous Jaws starts to break.
With light southeast winds in the forecast, this should make for good wave riding conditions at the surf breaks that can handle waves of this size. Many of the north shore breaks will likely be closing out. These conditions are for experienced surfers are only. Beach goers should exercise caution as there will likely be large shore break and strong rip currents. Stay safe, have fun and enjoy the spectacle of the waves.
